According to autopsy results revealed on Thursday, Kiely Rodni, a California adolescent who was missing for two weeks before her corpse was discovered in a submerged automobile in a reservoir, drowned and there is no indication of foul play.
The Coroners Division of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office determined that the death of the 16-year-old was accidental, according to the authorities.
The sheriff’s office issued a statement saying, “This conclusion is based on the pathologist’s judgement that her death was the consequence of drowning and that there was no additional information to suggest she was the victim of foul play.”
In order to continue working with Rodni’s family, the sheriff’s office is “considering any further information linked to this case,” it was noted.
On August 6, around 12:30 a.m. local time, Rodni was last observed near the Prosser Family Campground in the sleepy Californian town of Truckee, about 20 miles north of Lake Tahoe.
She disappeared along with her car, a silver 2013 Honda CRV, while she was at a party with more than 300 attendees. Since she vanished, her cellphone has also stopped working.
Before a body was discovered in a car pulled from the Prosser Reservoir on Aug. 21, authorities said a massive search effort lasted for two weeks. Two days later, after an autopsy, it was determined that the body was that of Rodni because the vehicle matched the description of her SUV.
The teen’s family expressed their “everlasting gratitude” for the support they received from friends, family, law enforcement, the media, and communities around the world throughout their hunt for Rodni in a statement at the time.
