California’s STOCKTON: In connection with five deadly shootings that have occurred since July in Stockton, California, authorities have offered rewards totalling $85,000 for information that results in an arrest.

According to Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden’s post on the department’s Facebook page on Saturday, police have identified a “person of interest” in the killings after analysing surveillance footage. Police published a blurry still photograph of a man or woman who was being videotaped from behind and was all in black, including his or her cap.
The most recent murder happened just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday when a 54-year-old man was shot in a neighbourhood to the north of the city centre, according to McFadden.
He was the fifth individual, according to the police, who had been shot and killed since July 8 within a few square kilometres. Based on their research and the reports they are getting, detectives think that all five killings are connected, McFadden said.
The victims, who were slain in the evening or early morning in the 320,000-person city approximately 50 miles (80 kilometres) south of the state capital, Sacramento, were each strolling alone, according to police.
The victims ranged in age from 21 to 54; four of the males were of Hispanic descent and one was Caucasian, according to McFadden.
