On Tuesday, the remains of a missing California lady who had been driving down a cliff were discovered. She had been absent for two months.

According to Selma (Calif.) Police Department Chief Rudy Alcaraz, who addressed the media at a joint news conference with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 22-year-old Jolissa Fuentes, who went missing on August 8, was discovered on Monday in a ravine along with the woman’s possessions and the wrecked car.

“We wish that we had better news,” he said. “I wish that we could have brought Ms. Fuentes home.”

According to Alcaraz, the one-car collision happened close to Pine Flat Lake, a reservoir in the eastern Fresno County Sierra Nevada foothills. Nobody suspected wrongdoing. Officers had to descend 250 feet down the cliff to locate the vehicle and Fuentes’ corpse because tyre tracks revealed where the automobile veered off the road.

The vehicle wreckage and tyre traces that helped search crews locate the automobile was initially seen by Alcaraz.

“He promised me he was going to find my daughter,” Fuentes’ father, Joe Fuentes, said At Tuesday’s news conference. “He’s my hero.”

The identification of the remains has not yet been formally confirmed by the coroner’s office.

Police said back in August that Fuentes travelled home overnight to retrieve some possessions while she was at a family event on the evening of August 6.
